It started with a question from a pharmacist: could a familiar food source become the foundation of a different kind of protein platform?

A problem observed before a product was imagined
Some product ideas begin in a boardroom, with a category to enter and a launch date to hit. This one did not. It began at a pharmacy counter, in the ordinary course of serving people who needed help — the kind of frontline vantage point where a real nutritional problem is visible long before anyone writes a brief about it.
The need is unglamorous and widely shared: protein supplementation that is easy to take, easy to tolerate day after day, and suited to how people actually eat. Conventional protein products are not always a comfortable fit for that reality. For some people — including ageing populations and others in nutritionally demanding circumstances — the format, the taste, the cost or the daily routine of a standard supplement can make consistent use difficult.
This section describes a need, not a claim. Where a specific nutritional or clinical assertion would be required, it is identified as a development question rather than stated as fact.
The insight did not originate with us
The observation, and the initial concept that followed from it, came from Nimish Khandekar — proprietor of Khandekar Medicals in Kolhapur, a certified pharmacist with scientific and research involvement in the idea. Khandekar Medicals came to VitaeForge as a partner carrying a need and a hypothesis, not as a customer shopping for a product to sell.
That sequence matters, and we are careful not to blur it. VitaeForge did not invent a product and then search for a story to justify it. A domain expert saw a genuine problem, formed an early view of how a familiar ingredient might address it, and brought that view to a development partner. Our role begins there.
Could a familiar food become a credible protein platform?
Groundnut is a familiar food across much of South and Southeast Asia. It sits inside everyday diets and everyday economics rather than at the margins of them. The hypothesis under investigation is whether that familiarity — cultural and dietary, not physiological — can be turned into a practical, well-tolerated protein platform: something people recognise and are willing to consume consistently.
Familiarity is a real advantage in product design, because a nutrition product only works if people actually use it. But familiarity is not a substitute for evidence. Whether groundnut-derived protein can be concentrated, formulated, stabilised and manufactured into a credible product — and for whom — is exactly what the work has to establish. The question is open by design.
Turning a raw material into a credible product is the hard part
The distance between a promising ingredient and a viable product is where most nutritional ideas quietly fail. Groundnut is no exception. A short list of the genuine problems the programme has to work through:
- Protein retention and concentration — recovering usable protein without degrading it in the process.
- Contaminant management — the well-known risks associated with groundnut require serious, non-negotiable control.
- Formulation behaviour — how the material performs in a real product, not only in an assay.
- Sensory considerations — taste and texture that people accept repeatedly, not once.
- Stability — consistent behaviour across time, storage and distribution.
- Safety and quality — meeting the requirements that let a product exist responsibly.
- Manufacturability — a process that survives contact with scale.
- Commercial viability — economics that hold up outside the laboratory.
Specific process methods and proprietary SOPs are deliberately not disclosed here.
A development process, not a demonstration
The programme runs through VitaeForge's development system and draws on the wider BioStack scientific, formulation and manufacturing capability beneath it. That means the same discipline we apply to any programme: define the need precisely, formulate against it, prototype, validate against evidence, and only then consider engineering toward readiness.
We are equally careful about what we show. No image or clip on this page is a record of the DGOC programme, a VitaeForge facility or a BioStack line. Where contextual material appears, it is exactly that — context — and it is labelled so. When authentic programme documentation exists and is cleared, it will replace the contextual material here.
Development pathways under investigation
If the work supports it, several directions are plausible. These are development pathways being investigated — not commercially launched products.
- Protein concentrates.
- Fortified everyday nutrition, including possible flour-based applications.
- Ready-to-drink nutrition.
- Specialised nutrition formats, subject to appropriate development and validation.
Each pathway carries its own formulation, sourcing, sensory and regulatory questions. None is assumed. The point of naming them is to be clear about direction, not to imply arrival.
Honest about what is done and what is not
The programme is in active development. Work is underway on formulation and process questions; validation and manufacturability questions remain open and are the subject of continuing work. We are not claiming completed clinical validation, and we are not presenting a finished commercial product.
That restraint is not a caveat bolted onto the story. It is the story. VitaeForge exists to determine whether an idea can responsibly become a product — which means being willing to say, clearly, where the evidence currently stands.
